Every year, thousands of migrant men, women and children are deported to Nogales, Sonora, Mexico or arrive in the city fleeing from violence and poverty in Central America.  They arrive with few belongings, and often do not know where to turn for food, shelter, and a compassionate heart.  Since 2009, the Kino Border Initiative has promoted U.S./Mexico border and immigration policies that affirm the dignity of the human person.  They offer humanitarian aid, meals and temporary shelter, employment opportunities, legal aid, education, and the coordination of migrant advocacy efforts.  KBI’s philosophy is that the families they serve deserve the very best, and everyone should be treated with respect and compassion.  They are among the very best advocates for immigration reform that is humane, just and workable – a real challenge in our divided nation.
