Media CoverageSU Names $1 Million Opus Prize Winner
At a Nov. 18 press conference at Seattle University the $1 million Opus Prize was presented to Marguerite Barankitse (pictured) of Burundi, Africa. Through her organization, Maison Shalom, Barankitse provides a safe haven for children and families who are the victims of ethnic strife. Two $100,000 awards were given to Michael Woodard (Jubilee House Community and Center for the Development of Central America) and Krishnammal Jagannathan (Land for Tillers' Freedom). |
